Dragon Naturally Speaking is by far the most advanced Voice Recognition software available. This software has been around for a long time and it is by far the most accurate voice recognition solution. With the recent addition to its line up - MacSpeech, now this manufacturer offers a solution for PC users as well as Mac Users.
For most people, the Preferred version of Dragon will be the best option. While just as accurate as the Dragon Professional edition, Dragon Preferred is priced significantly lower. Typically, Dragon Preferred targets the home user and the Dragon Professional version has features that are more oriented towards a corporate environment. For example, the Preferred edition does not support applications such as PowerPoint and OneNote, meaning that users will not be able to use voice commands they would typically use in Office Word for example. Dragon Professional will also allow users to create more complex spoken commands, so users can customize this version to match their exact work automation needs. Lastly, please note, this software works better if your system has at least 2GB of RAM, a good sound card and a good USB headset (check out our headsets section for headset upgrades) so make sure your system is properly equipped to handle voice recognition software.
